Hanbok Korea + Batik Indonesia = ..... ???
Two designer from Korea
has been challenged to design hybrid which mix Hanbok and Batik
Shin Sook-young, a designer associated with
Sookhyun Hanbok said in an interview, ''I was asked to design six different
pieces of the Korean traditional costume Hanbok with fabric used for making Indonesia's
One wonders if that was really all she had to say
or if she was being diplomatic and refrained from making any subjective
While Indonesian designer, Oscar Lawalata
also felt challenged to see beloved Batik used as part of dress or chima in
Hanbok. This young man, who has taken part in many
fashion shows around the region, is keep to promote Indonesian
textiles. But how Batik is use in part of Hanbok.
Okay, most important is, how does it call, Hanbok
+ Batik = .... ?
Well, I like Hantik the most, cuz it sounds like
'Cantik', which is have meaning 'Beautiful' in Indonesia language.
