Growing up, did you witness your parents fighting and did it leave a bad impression in your mind?

My stepfather was an arrogant, abusive man who basically hated women and regarded women as inferior to me. He used the same derogatory terms as Rush Limbaugh used against the law student who testified in Congress this year. I will not repeat them, but you know the words. Worse yet, my older brother and stepfather ganged up on my mom, and they would laugh about it later, while they were drunk and loud.

These two males scared me! They were verbally and physically abusive monsters. I trust that "God sees" and will punish them in the everlasting afterlife.

If my parents fought with each other, it was never in front of me.

I witnessed a few arguments, but that's different from actually fighting. Even with that, the arguments were never anything substantial. My parents always got along actually.

It's the reason I don't ever want to marry and why I'm sure I don't love my parents as much as I probably could.

It was an almost daily thing in my except on sudays, But mondays always made up for that.

Fighting, as in disagreeing and arguing, sometimes. Not often, but it did upset me as a child, and goofy kid that I was, I would say something to try and make them stop.

It is healthy to argue and disagree, but I didn't understand that then. If I was a child who saw true hatefulness, or physical violence between my parents, I'm quite sure it would have left a bad impression on my mind.

Oh, they had some knock down drag outs every now & again. I mean they had been in countless fights. But only a few with each other, which is what I am asumming this question is pertaining to. But it didn't really affect me too much. Or at least, as far as I can tell, that is.

They fought alot..
When I was almost three they got in a big fight.. & my dad left...
Ill always remember it..
But my parents .. They get along great these days..
It's made me.. Realize stuff.. Everytime I look back at them.. & then look at them now

Never. My parents weren't fighters they were lovers, great friends for 60 years until my dad passed away. Neither were fighters nor am I.

Please don't misunderstand: My parents did NOT fight a lot and certainly were never physical, but it always upset me when they yelled at each other. I suspect that is why I hate confrontation now.

They had 2 kinds of fights -- little "Oh, go soak your head!" things that were open to all lol, and ones behind closed doors -- which turned out not to be fights, but my father trying to get my mother to be realistic about her health (she had a bad heart, and she was SURE she could just tough it out -- she couldn't).

But, because little squabbles were open, the closed door "conversations" scared me. I never told them.

Yes a bit. I get on well with my mother now though. Shes mellowed and so have I.
