I'm quoting the link for that info. "Studies have shown that astronauts experience up to a 20% loss of muscle mass on spaceflights lasting five to 11 days."

I still don't see how they can replace a magnetic field. Without that, having a stable atmosphere won't happen and is probably why Mars doesn't have an atmosphere like us to protect from the sun and asteroids right now. I've seen theories of having fusion power plants produce something like a magnetic field to protect a planet that is being terraformed. But we still can't create fusion power plants and probably won't for another 50 years until the means of magnetic confinement is perfected (but then again they said 50 years ago we would have fusion plants today) I believe China is already thinking of mining the surface of the moon for helium isotopes for use in future fusion plants. Unless there is a resource or reason to live on Mars no one is going to make the huge investments and research the would be needed any time soon. Just wanting to live there for the sake of living there isn't hardly enough motivation the conquer the huge unimaginable feats to do it.

Um, no. All the people and things I care about are HERE. I'd like to visit, though, if there was some way to do so while avoiding rockets and space food. :/

I want twenty or thirty kegs o' beer, a pound or ten of nice Colombian, a free-to-me taxpayer funded trip (which only dem-flavored statists are forced to pay). . .and yeah. A three-breasted woman with nice thighs would be awesome. :-)

If you lived on mars Jesus could still call you 'Home' or does Jesus only apply to people who live on earth?

Agree' hell I probably would become marsophobic really quick!!! And to not be able to change my mind and come back home to earth' whoa no friggin' way. I would love to go to heaven and stay forever. January 28, 2010 I was out exercising (power walking to be precise), I collapsed to the ground without warning, my heart had stopped beating and I lay on the ground dying for 54-minutes!!! "No Heart Beat 6-minutes short of an hour.
I was watching myself dying; I am writing my book of survival and about the total experience of actually dying and coming back. So going to mars maybe, but not really ( that's the red planet isn't it?) But make me an offer for heaven; and I will go gladly, I went to heaven, but was sent back to earth to continue being a humanitarian.

It is true that I was dead clinically for 54-minutes lying on the sidewalk with no heartbeat. I had went out walking(exercising) that day; and by the way it is documented. It took heart doctors over 4-hrs. to get my heart started back through surgery. Sometimes when one die it's not a permanent death, but a clinical death all the same.
And no it was not like the movie "Final Destination" but I know what it's like to die and come back, trust me weird things happened and still do.

Sure why not? I've been moving all my life (Military brat), why stop now. Only problem with moving all the time and going on vacations is no matter where you go, you are always there. And its a bad thing if your the kind of person that's not comfortable in their own skin.

That is so cool. I'd live in Mars; change the scenery. It will be expensive though, so I better save up!
