Give me a spaceship that travels 2-10x the speed of light, and I'll find my own world. :) Otherwise, if in this solar system... I want it to be possible to live here: Extrasolar Planet

If I was just starting my life (currently 54) I wouldn't hesitate. It would be a great advanture to go beyond the known, to be one of the first to colonize a new planet and hopefully not make the same mistakes as we have here.

According to all available information,-and using our common sense,- living on Mars would be very unpleasant. Why would anyone want to do something so obviously unpleasant? Trade a Vodka Collins, a good football game on TV, chips and dip and hot dogs while sitting in a comfortable overstuffed reclining chair,- for a romp on a dead planet? Even inside a 'safe' building..."Oh, honey...look! A rock!" How exciting...another rock...

.... Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids
In fact it's cold as hell
And there's no one there to raise them
    If you could ...

Of course, if things were a little different. But, I know this plan won't be sucessfull. Living in space for over three months shrinks your bone size. If they can even get to Mars, than they'll start shrinking.

Never said anything about politics at all. He isn't living off the governement, he is living off his mother and grand mother. Hopefully he is now moving out and making some progress. I was merely making a joke at his expense. Your Ayn Rand like comment means nothing to me as I believe she was a pathetic and distorted dreamer.

Thank you! We have a number of people on here that try and turn everything into a political thing and are especially adept at insults to Obama. As you observe, they are not clever nor are they accurate. When I have challenged some about the particular policies of Obama with which they disagree, they usually revert to the old "socialist", "unamerican" and "destroying this country" routine. Disagreement is inevitable as is ignorance, they are able to combine them in a paticularly devisive and nasty tone.
