Got any tricks to relieve back pain??

bluelady 2012/06/01 04:10:49
My back is seriously messed up...from disintegrating discs in my cervical (neck) spine to serious stenosis in my lumbar....ruptured discs and arthritis every where.
I started nursing (CNA)in 1972...also spent 4 years as as mechanic including deisel, (so I was a motor head) , I just got banned from CNA work in 2010 d/t back and stroke. Plus everyone on both sides of my family has messed up backs geneticly. Am going to a pain clinic next week.

Anyone got any great tricks for back pain???
I take percocets and flexaril now, but the dosage is creeping up.
had surgery in October for ruptured disc which helped..... but am always willin to try something
Acupuncture helped but my Federal Blue Cross wont pay for it
Masage helps but Disability isnt big money .
You!

I think backs are some of the worst problems to have...your problems are pretty severe, and if I were you, I would only want to take instruction from a professional rehabilitor...
My husband has a genetically bad skeleton, with his back being some of the worst...of course now there is arthritis...he has tried a zillion things, and would never ever have surgery...the best thing that works for him, is stretching, and certain exercises..he does go to a Chiropractor once a week, who does some temporary good for him with the stretching of several muscle groups that work in the opposite direction of the problem..and BTW, Medicare pays for the visits in total...He also, take pain/anti inflamatory drugs...which seem to help....he sees a dr.. that specializes in drug management, and he is able to prescribe those that work in tandem with each other for the best possible outcome..He takes a drug called Suboxone, and this dr. is specially licensed to prescribe it...it is used all over Europe, with no problems,,,but the FDA has not approved it for general prescription, therefore Insurance doesn't cover it if you need more than they will cover in each 30 day period...It is a non addictive controlled substance, Most dr.s cant prescribe it...But he swears by it. and he has tried everything..

Good luck on your problem... .

Well, of course what works for one, will not necessarily work for another, but you have to give it a try if it is feasible...

It's in the pharmacies, it is just not prescribable by all doctors..they have to be specially licensed to prescribe it.....it is used for several different things, opiate addiction is just one...for pain management, it in used in combination with something alternate for effective pain management... It comes in pill form and strips a/k/a films, that you disolve under the tongue....
