Google-Designed Nikes: Funny or Freakin' Ugly?

These might be the most hideous sneakers we've ever seen. And they were designed by Google. Wait, you thought Google was cool? You might want to think again.



These clown-colored, '80s-esque Google-designed Nike Dunks (featuring Google co-founder Larry Page's face on the tongue) are earning raspberries across the blogosphere. As Gizmodo reports, "Just plain fugly. Even the geekiest, worst-dressed Googler would never be caught dead in these."

According to SneakerFiles, the sneakers were designed by Evan Steinberg, Google Community Manager for Android, and signed by Page. And yes, that's the old Google logo. But before you change your search engine of choice, note that the "Shoeglers" are reportedly a gag.

Nevertheless, Gizmodo isn't laughing. "Is that Google Maps underneath the Swoosh? Just what the hell is going on here?" a blogger for the site wonders. We're thinking this is one of those inside jokes that's only funny to Googlers.

As for us, we won't be putting these on our feet anytime soon, that's for sure -- unless we decide to dress as "Google" for Halloween. But that might just be the nerdiest costume ever.
