Eating crap killed John Candy

Being a Vegan does not kill anyone. Being big and overweight and maybe not as active as he should have been. Or a genetic problem. No one knows unless you are into genetics and are aware of your family history. He had a beautiful voice and charm and I am sorry that he passed away. Remember John Ritter and his unexpected passing. People have to start being more aware of their family histories if they want to live to a good old age.

He was vegetarian, and no being vegetarian does not cause heart attacks. It can happen to almost anyone.

I don't see how. There are a number of factors that could have killed him.

Anything can and will kill you if you take it to the extreme. There are studies than even Korn Flakes causes cancer . If I were to get paranoid over all the things I've heard can kill you, I would never eat. In this case , it was sad , I think he's heigth and weigth were the ones that did him in. He was an incredibly taleneted gentle giant , may he rest in peace.

Vegan have far less problems with heart attacks than omnivores.

A family history of cardio-vascular problems and stress is probably what killed him.
I have yet to hear of any one dying because they became a vegetarian. Plus he went Vegetarian, not Vegan. All Vegans are Vegetarians but not all Vegetarians are Vegans.

I've never heard of a vegetarian diet killing someone via a heart attack. If anything it should help your heart.

It may be hereditary. Have they thought about that. Or maybe his early eating habits in his life contributed to it.

My real answer is "I don't know." Heart attacks happen to vegans and meat-eaters alike. He was a fun actor, and I'm very sorry for his family.

I'm a true omnivore. I have eaten a little bit of just about everything under the sun. But I cannot blame a middle-aged man's heart attack on too many fruits and veggies.

I would wager that this mountain of a man probably took steroids to achieve his incredible stature at a young age. He has also been seen smoking cigars, and let's face it: He was wealthy and famous.

Stress from Hollywood or at home. Smoking, Alcohol (you KNOW he had to have gotten drunk at least once in his life, right?) and the big one: Steroids.

Even if my guess turns out be wrong, people need to remember that your lifespan is not guaranteed. Just because one person lives to a hundred doesn't mean that you will. Live your life, and try not to think too much about what can kill you. Eventually, just breathing will result in your demise.

Heart disease took years to create the fatal block in the arteries. Going vegan will not help. Medicine, cardiologic intervention and diet will have to do once the arteries start to harden. I suspect he had a serious heart disease even before going vegan and did not get the medical help that he needed. We'll wait for the autopsy report. So very sorry he died so young at 54.

Hard to say. Maybe it contributed, maybe it didn't.

His MI in July obviously was a major one and God only knows what part of his heart/vasculature was damaged beyond repair. He was a rather large fellow to begin with.

Whether or not his vegan lifestyle contributed ........ not for me to say. It is a personal choice to give up meat.
