Girls Trying to Look Like Living Dolls: Sweet or Sick?

Little girls have always liked dolls ... but now, not-so-little girls may be liking them a little too much. As in, trying to turn themselves into living Barbies. According to The Daily Mail, teens who look like dolls are becoming Internet sensations, dispensing beauty tips to their legions of adoring fans.

According to the Mail, Dakota Rose (known to her fans as Kota Koti) has been called a real-life Barbie due to her big eyes and doll-like lips and complexion. Kota silently gives fashion and beauty tutorials on YouTube, while subtitles explain her makeup and style tips. (Get it? Dolls don't talk!)

Another "living doll," known as Venus Angelic, also gives tutorials. A Bolivian newspaper, Opinion.com.bo reported: "Thousands of girls around the world have shown interest in this girl, wanting to look like her." We don't know about you, but this seems like a pretty disturbing trend to us. Do you think it's healthy for girls to aspire to look like dolls? Or totally sick?

I think every young girl goes thew a few fads before finding herself. This seems harmless and fun. I can only hope with time they emerge as the real beautiful women they are.

The blog states young girls, and young teens. I find that very fertile ground for this type of fooling around. Anything over 21 needs to seek help ASAP.

For me it was twiggy, Stevie Nicks, Sophia Loren and a few others...Twiggy was beautiful and every where we looked. BUT that did not last long and neither did she LOL A fad is just that..a fad.

All these moronic trends just keep them from knowing who they truly are and also perpetuate the image of what "girls should be." Why in the world do so many want to be a mindless clone? Our society is really disgusting.

My own aesthetic reaction would depend on the age of the person in question and the degree to which the "fascination" is pursued. But I'd certainly not be the one to presume to pass some kind of "objective" judgement on anyone else's personal choices.

It's like heroine chic in the 90's. As long as it sells it will trend regardless of the effects ans problems it may cause. If anything, it seems more of a fetish.

What ever happened to *inner* beauty? IMHO, I think young women have gotten even more into comparing themselves to others and the "ideal" look and that is unhealthy. What happens to your self esteem if you view yourself as "flawed" or "imperfect"? We need to teach our daughters and young women to be happy with their unique looks and be happy with what the Lord has given them. "Beauty" *is* only skin deep, after all! If you're happy with who you are and what you look like, it will shine through you and draw others to you.

At least these girls aren't trying to look like vamps, witches, devils, or hookers - and they don't have their boobs hanging out. They look sweet. NICE.

I look like a vamp. I'm pale, have black hair, and (natural) fangs. But it doesn't mean I'm a freak. I'm slim cuz I dance, I have bright blue eyes and red lips, and something that these girls are missing. Individuality.

Its a clear statement about how screwed up our wonderfully "progressive" society has become. When you dont have belief's and morals, you end up FUBAR, just like many of these poor souls...... with nice boobs, & killer bodies, weird looking inanimate faces and no brains to speak of. Perfect wife, right? (not)

It's fine if you alter your make-up or clothing for a style, but we all know that impressionable girls take things to another level. Anorexia? Check. Cosmetic procedures? Check. Selling your soul for an unattainable image? Check.

I think there's a difference between dressing and "dolling" (excuse the pun) yourself up the way you want and actually acting like you're a doll. The subculture is mostly foreign and it's difficult to judge because you really don't understand the context for most of this fascination.

I agree, for some people dressing up is a way of fun. Even tho' I am a male, and my total pile of clothes fits into two backpacks, I am able to imagine that it would be fun to dress up. Mascots dress up like animals, I dont see anyone shouting that that is sick.

This girl being a sensation for supposedly looking like a doll is kind of sick. And I've read about her and how she accomplishes this doll look. It's C- makeup tricks with A+ photoshop. And it's creepy in my opinion.
