German court rules religious circumcision a crime.

Non-medical circumcision is a "serious and irreversible interference in the integrity of the human body," the Cologne district court ruled.
Just because a religion decrees it does not mean that a parent has the right to take something away from their child's body without said child's consent. If the child chooses to be circumcised when they're older, that's their decision. But they should at least *have* that decision.
I completely agree. As a circumcised male, I wish I would've had the choice. But seeing as how my parents were religious, they didn't grant me this.
I sincerely hope that this issue is thoroughly looked into in other countries, including America and a similar decision is reached.

BattleBattlerBenji (PHAET) 2012/06/26 16:14:53This is a good decision.+4Good job. And I find it amusing that TruBlu goes on about respecting religion when those religions don't respect peoples right of choice. A right old bit of hypocrisy there. Respect our right not to respect others rights. What a joke.

However, I know there are instances where parents have a legitimate medical reason to choose to circumcise their son. In those instances, I would give them free rein.
