Friends and family are mourning the death of Jack Reese, a gay Utah teen who took his own life last week after allegedly being subjected to anti-gay bullying at school.

It's the f***** parents who teach their children to be hateful,But please spare me the petty bs he didn't kill himself because of being bullied!He was probably in love or had a stupid school crush on some boy who wasn't worth,the prick broke his heart so the dip**** killed himself I see it all the f***** time!I mean seriously I'm bi but u don't see me killin myself because of some ignorant *** who thinks he's to good for me I just dump there ass and show em who the real ***** belong too!

No,unlike most ppl I don't curse in written word unless I feel it nessissary!But if I was assuming anything which I wasn't I really could care less about one persons life or another so u can keep ur unwanted oppinion away from me!Before you really start to piss me off!

You certainly were assuming something. You have no respect for Jack, his pain, or his mourning family and friends. You need to sit down and relax, maybe read a book and talk to a psychologist or something. Oh, and no one cares if you get pissed off, my dear. Thats your problem. I just want you to know that it's people like you that cause others pain in the first place.

I don't know why you are assuming he killed himself because he was love sick or whatever. The article doesn't really explain why. It just said he was bullied, but it doesn't indicate why he was driven to kill himself

I do know that Utah is not the place to be if you are homosexual. In general it is extremely conservative, Mormon, intolerant and prejudice against gays

Umm, no matter what the reason was people have diffrent reasons to what might lead them to suicide, so even if it wasnt the bullying that lead to his suicide, at the end it is his choice to tell what is more of a valid reason that is worth taking his own life away. Not yours my friend. However, that is your opinion and its up to you to believe whatever you want and desire and that I cannot argue with.

Teenagers are angst-y enough as it is without the stigma some people attach to homosexuality. In my day, we had a 24 hour gay hotline to talk to someone when we had problems. I wish more of our older men and women would help mentor the young ones. I have had long conversations with teen and even tween gays and it seems to help them, almost like a light at the end of their tunnels. Rest in peace Jack, we do love you.

Humans are pack animals, we attack everyone who is seen as different from the norm, teenagers doubly so. However we are supposedly intelligent as well and should be able to think through what we are doing and the effects of our actions on others.

And we gather into tribes all our lives. We have the Family Tribe, we belong to. The Friends, the Co-Workers, the Neighbourhood, the various other 'clubs' we belong too. Hell, we gossip about the other Tribes. The Celeb Tribe is always popular. We talk about the popular kids, who they're sleeping with, whose doing drugs... We never really leave High School in the end...

Surprised? I'm not, I bet 20$ that at least ten more suicides will happen this year due to bullying in this country alone.

(Mostly due to how bullying is encouraged nowadays by dumbass parents and even more idiotic kids.)

I don't mean this as a disrespect, but people need to learn to stop caring whT people think ( and yes people need not be a bully) like the ole saying those that matter don't mind and those that mind dont matter

I have a physical problem that causes me to have heavy speech impediment now over the years I worked at it and I'm better at it but it's still noticeable to some well in school in was called retard and stuff like that and it hurt but eventually I reliazed that they don't matter and well I learned that I had more of a vocabulary then them so I fought fire with fire and eventually they backed off

I know killing yourself doesn't work, and when the authorities are biased because the bully is good at sports than it is time to face the bully, in my opinion anyways.

Sad & unfortunate...this has been going on for many years, but gay teens seem to be spotlighted more nowadays & bullies seem to be meaner & more vicious. Parents & teachers aren't caring enough to take time out of their busy schedules to counsel & offer support to those in need or those who are out of control. I was bullied in school until I decided to fight back, even after being taught to turn the other cheek. After that I defended those who were bullied for being "different"...gay, overweight, nerdy or had disabilities. It seems kids nowadays are more aware, but not many do anything to prevent such behaviour in smaller communities, especially those predominant with strong religious beliefs, which seems a little backwards. Where are the counselors? Are they too few because of the current economy or is it they just don't care?
