It's not my cup of tea, but it can be useful and relaxing for some. My mother has always tended vegetable and flower gardens. If you have the time and enjoy nature it can be very enjoyable.

It's a wonderful creative outlet... a great way to save on grocery expenses... to know where the food you're eating is coming from... and a good excuse to get out of the house, get some sun and exercise all at the same time. My best memories from childhood are with my grandmother in her garden...I'm sharing the knowledge I learned from her with my own children. Nothing better then teaching my kids how to grow their own food.

I enjoy gardening. I don't live my life for it but I grow some nice rose bushes, a few tomatoe plants, banana peppers and bell peppers and trying colliflower this year.

I love gardening. I used to have a garden every single year back at my parent's house in Indiana. I enjoyed it very much. It's good, clean fun, and you get a reward out of it that you can eat!

It's great exercise and people tend to leave you alone, so you get a lot of time to work out your frustrations in private.

I had enough gardening for a lifetime when I was a kid. Now, I like to leave it to the professionals -- the Farmers. They know what they are doing and don't need me going around trying to do something for which I have no talent.

We've had a Garden for the last seven years. Not only is it relaxing, it's rewarding as well. with the prices of produce going up every day. Having a regular supply of fresh vegetables incoming; with enough even to share,
Having your own Vegetable Garden is the way to go.
...Sadly for us...it doesn't look like we are going to have one this year.

If I was into vegetable gardening ....like I am my flower beds...we would eat well indeed....but flowers feed something else inside a person....so that is what I prefer...

I have many wonderful memories, all the years I spent in my gardens adding more perennials every year. The hand made trellis's made from tree branches that I gathered from woods. Rock gardens carefully put together from what I found during my life's travels. They were beautiful and amazing. There's no one tending to them now. The house is empty and no one cares. Maybe one day another gardener will come along and help them bloom again. I hope so.

My parents love gardening and my dad grows tons of food which they try to use all of it or give it to a local food bank that can use it. And save some money at the grocery store. My mom is more into the flowers which she has a big hill that looks great.

I actually find it somewhere in the middle of the two answers offered. I love to have the fruits of my labor, but getting there is more like work than a relaxing day in the backyard. I used to get my kids out and help me, when they were young, and they loved harvesting whatever was ready, eating beans right off the vine, wonderful stuff. I think it gave them a connection to their food supply they would not have learned elsewhere. But, alas, they are grown, and I would rather play golf.

there is nothing lame about gardening it is hard work. i grew up helping my family tend our big garden on our farm and then later i put out a garden pretty much every year until recently.

I know what you mean...we're actually expecting a drought this year...and just don't want to see all our hard work dried up. We already had that happen with our second year vegetable Garden...it was Sad.

I am not sure what's lame about growing your own garden, whether it be a vegetable or flower garden. There is great satisfaction from watching something you planted grow and thrive. It is also really good in teaching children about where food comes from. My boys love going out into the garden to harvest fruits and vegetables and how much better they taste than the ones from the store.

My Grandson Ryan discovered on his own...

we have a small bed of them along the back of the house. We get a few berries...but never enough to fill a bucket. I don't know if it's not enough sunlight...or maybe the birds are getting them first. Better wake the girls and tell them they are on duty.

I don't garden, but my fiancee does and she does wonderful work. I pretty much mow, clean out gutters and trim trees.
