There will be a massive garage sale at Bob Hope's house this weekend. Lots of people are hoping (pun intended) to dig up some good finds. Do you like to dig around at garage sales?

I particularly like estate sales. Many times there are some real gems that people are just getting rid of and have no idea what it really is.

Unless you meant garbage sale... I do like garbage sales. I can usually find neat stuff at them but some people think their garbage is gold and way, way over-price it.

The last yard sale I went to cost me way too much money. Bought a few items at one house, kept driving around the subdivision and found a house for sale! Bought the house!

Depends. I'm on the lookout for books and postcards mostly. Bought a first edition hardback novel from someone for two dollars . They didn't know it was worth $500.

Sometimes but they usually pay pretty decent "garage sale" rates. These guys are swindlers

but then again it is a pawn shop so that's kinda what they do.

You don't find much at most. I would rather go to a thrift store or buy new instead of buying from a yard sale.

Not for buying. They're just an excuse to buy more unneeded junk. They're also not the best for selling--too limited re: buyers. eBay or Craig's List will do you much, much better for many things. I think I'd turn a lot of the Hope stuff over to an auction house.

I have enough junk of my own to have my own sales, which I do about every 3 to 4 years..
Now I will admit this estate sale might be interesting for the fact of what one might find if you can afford the price.

I have never gotten really lucky and found anything really great but I do like to go out and see what can be had. I did buy a used wood chipper at one that has given me 12 years of good use.

I always crane my neck as I am driving by ~ hating myself for never having any cash on me. Wondering if that high chair, mountain bike, or recliner is worth me going to the ATM and then buying a pack of gum at the store and asking for singles back.
