They have a lot of similarities, but some differences too. They're probably more alike than they are different. They're both military men...husband was Army and Dad was in the Air Force.

Actually, both of the above. I married all my dad's good traits - cool headed, bright, good with money, hard-working, loyal, generous and a good public speaker.. I deliberately did NOT and never would marry my dad's totalitarianism, mean streak and narcissism.

My dad was tall, thin, bald and had a hairy chest. My husband is not tall, and while balding, has much more hair than I ever saw on my father. He has a little hair on his chest, but I've never liked hairy chests.

when I got married he was not even in the same hemisphere as my dad now if my dad starts lecturing my daughter or one of my younger sisters my husband can finish his sentences. My husband only sees my family about once a month. I think all men tend to have the same ideas and believes after a time, my best friend got married in Chicago and leaved there for 13 years, she moved back here and we got together and two brothers could not be more alike, than our husbands.

I'll answer this for my wife since she is not on SH and we have talked about this several times over the years. The answer is yes and no.

I chose no because my wife does not know her dad. He disappeared when she was 2 years old.

My dad is the only father figure my wife has ever had. He and I are very alike so she has an idea of how I will be when I am older.

No I dont get along with my dad, he is judgmental, racist and likes to put people down for no apparent reason (example he never tells my daughter she is pretty or looks good but if she puts on even a few pounds EVERYTIME he sees her he points out that she is getting fat -his word not mine). I would be single til I die if marrying someone like my dad was the only choice
