Johny's pencil was taken at school. Johny's mother was very upset and complained to the teacher that the theft of Johny's pencil was not acceptable. The mother stressed the point that it was the not the pencil but the principle of the thing, after all, Johny's father could get all the pencils that Johny needed from his work. No, I do not steal office products but I do wonder where all of those pens and pencils on my home office desk come from.

I recently applied for a job at Lowe's online and because I wanted to be honest, when they asked if I ever took anything from an office, I said that I had taken a pen, and all at once the computer told me I did not need to to go further and knocked me off. So much for being honest. I dont know of anyone that hasnt accidently taken a pen out of the office at one time or another. I will know better the next time.

I don't think that's what they mean when they say "stealing", taking a pen isn't exactly a big deal. The program is written so if that is a yes answer, it automatically shuts you down. Being honest is very important, but as an employer and an employee, you don't need to be that honest, it will only hurt you.
