We don't have one in our town. They come from another city. They will be here Friday.

Dogs hate being sprayed in the face with water, I say give them a cold shower and get her fixed and perhaps a bb to the sack would seal the deal

Appt on Monday. I also have A Chinese Pug and she is at the breeders right now. I don't need both dogs having pups at the same time. And my Chihuahua is getting old.

A BB gun is an excellent tool for correcting a dog problem. It doesn't break the skin, but it does but a damper on trespassing.

I think my son has one. If not I will use mg paint ball gun.

Messy, but just as effective. I prefer keeping a zapping just between me and the dog. If your son doesn't have a BB gun, I recommend you get one. I've used them for decades on dogs and wouldn't be without one.

I think your right. We live by orchards and vinyards and skimmed are sometimes up our drive might work for them to.

Against the law to shoot someones dog and the bb gun could take an eye out and you would be liable for the vet bills. Better to just take your female in heat, drop her off at the vets and pay board until they can spay her. cheaper than another vet bill and possible fines and lawsuit.

It's the responsibility of pet owners to restrain pets. If left to roam free they can be picked up by animal regulation--and put down if unclaimed. No court battles there. If she put an eye out belonging to an unidentifed and unsupervised dog she would not have to pay for vet bills, even if charges were filed. She isn't responsible. The pet owner (if there is one) is responsible.

Now if she were to shoot someone's dog out for a walk with its owner, or in its own yard, etc., then she would be liable for damages. Not with stray dogs. She has a right to protect her property, including her dogs. If the dog gets hurt, tough darts.

yes and no, it is a very fine line. Laws vary greatly... and anyone can sue anyone for any reason whatsoever. That is why I made that comment... just take the in heat dog in, have her boarded safely until she can be spayed. Ends the problem right there.

We have animals, lots of them, ex is a veterinarian, been down the road of legalities with animals in more ways than one. Also have dealt with people who want to harm animals, and that is a very fine line of who is legal and who is not.

Best to just plain have the dog spayed, ends the problem, period.

A BB gun will not hurt a large dog unless shot in a vulnerable area, such as an eye, or shot with a high-powered air rifle. It just isn't going to happen. It *will* get the dog out of the yard immediately. That's the desired outcome. That's empowering.

The dog might return, but not that day and probably not that week. Subsequent beanings on different occasions reinforce the correction.

It is best to catch it as it enters the yard so that it associates being hit with entering. That usually isn't possible, but even with a delay the dog will associate getting hit with the appearance of the house occupant. That too is desirable. It establishes the occupant as dominant. Again, empowering.

I used to train dogs. Cats too. I know what works. Spaying a dog ends the dog in heat problem. That's good. One needn't own a dog to have dog problems.

People who want to harm animals is a separate issue.

Not where I live, if its I n my yard without its owner I could blast It's butt. But, I don't want to hurt him so i just spray him with water and he leaves.

I have no idea but do what you need to do to protect your girl and your property. Whacking them with a broom sounds quite appealing but I don't think it will work forever. My ex whacked the deer with a garden spade and it didn't keep them from coming back to eat the garden.

True, and he is a male, LOL he will keep comming back. Thing is, he's not from my neighborhood. Never seen him before.

That's difficult if you don't know who owns him. Where I live what you would have to do is catch him and take him to the SPCA.

Oh I tried to catch him because the pound will be comming into town Friday. Still trying to catch him. I would kennel him till they got here.

Can you put something that smells like your dog in a place where you could trap him? Can you entice him with food? I'm sure you have tried everything! Good luck. I wish I could help.

Thank you Shawna I know you would help if you could. My friend is comming over to try and catch him. I can keep my dog safe but I have lots of landscape and he is destroying it.

As a gardener I know just how you feel!

I hurt my back so I can't get out there and do a lot so I'm just pissy about it. My kids come help me now. I'm only 44 but when my back goes out, I feel 90 LOL

I know what that is like. I am 45, but I live with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I've had it most of my adult life. It is quite limiting too. Take care of your back!

This is true. I have .45 but like I said I don't want to kill it. That would make me sad. If it did get a hold of my dog I would kill it. Simply because he is so big he would kill her.
