Probably not. There are far fewer places putting on displays this year in the St. Louis area due to the drought causing great potential for brush fires. The big display will be downtown on the river front where the fireworks are shot from barges floating in the Mississippi where there is minimal fire hazard.

I would, but our where I live right now we are in a big drought, (however u spell that) so we have a burn ban, and anyone who puts off fireworks will have to pay $2500, or even serve jail time

I don't believe in the 4th of July being a holiday.

Of course you wouldn't not exactly a British holiday.

What's completely pointless? America's Independence Day or fireworks, both?

Obviously you don't celebrate Guy Fawkes' Day? As for your dismissive remark about the Fourth of July. I will chalk it up to nationalistic jealousy. Because we both know you would be speaking either German or Russian without the United States.

Dont assume you know anything about me. Just because i may be younger doesn't mean I'm any less intelligent than anyone else. Also, you have used my age as ammunition for your argument.

I don't really believe in any holidays but if i don't get my friends and family presents they will go ballistic at me. Same as bank holidays. They are pointless. And of course i would be speaking German without your help! I also would be speaking Russian if not for your help! Oh no wait i wouldn't be alive because America and the USSR (Russia) would have blown it up along with the rest of the planet.

Destroyed, how? The U.S. and the Soviet Union never engaged in Nuclear warfare.
  • Jay ScoutLdr 2012/07/17 11:25:54
    Jay
Yet your president Ronald Reagan stated, and i quote "I can envision a limited Nuclear war in Europe." If my country had been speaking Russian you probably would have nuked us anyway, just for kicks.

"There is first the threat of global war. No President, no Congress, no Prime Minister, no Parliament can spend a day entirely free of this threat. And I don't have to tell you that in today's world the existence of nuclear weapons could mean, if not the extinction of mankind, then surely the end of civilization as we know it. That's why negotiations on intermediate-range nuclear forces now underway in Europe and the START talks -- Strategic Arms Reduction Talks -- which will begin later this month, are not just critical to American or Western policy; they are critical to mankind. Our commitment to early success in these negotiations is firm and unshakable, and our purpose is clear: reducing the risk of war by reducing the means of waging war on both sides." ~ President Ronald Reagan delivered this 1982 speech to members of the British Parliament in the Royal Gallery at the Palace of Westminster in London.

You said reducing the means to a war. Why not get rid of all of them and be done with it? Wouldn't that help the entire situation?
Nucleur warheads can and possibly will cause the extinction of our species! The effects of Chernobyl are still being felt. Same with Hiroshima and Nagasaki! The world can never maintain peace for more than a decade. And as long as nuclear weapons exist tensions will never dissipate! "Reducing the means of waging war on both sides" A better quote would be....

"I am become death, the destroyer of worlds." J. Robert Oppenheimer

No, you don't get rid of them all. Since 1945 there hasn't been a third World War because of Nuclear weapons. They act deterrence to all out war. At 05:29:45 am Mountain War Time on July 16, 1945, the world's first atomic bomb exploded one hundred feet over a portion of the southern New Mexico desert known as the Jornada del Muerto — the Journey of the Dead Man. On seeing the fireball and mushroom cloud, J. Robert Oppenheimer recalled a passage from the Bhagavad-Gita: "I am become death the destroyer of worlds." Trinity Test Director, Harvard Physicist Kenneth Bainbridge, had a less ethereal reaction, saying, "Now we are all S.O.B.'s."

Yes but what happens when you think a terrorist organisation gets WMD? You invade the country that are living in. Which just so happens to be filled with oil...
  • ScoutLdr Jay 2012/07/24 15:24:42

If you're speaking of Iraq, you in the UK and Europe get more of raw crude oil from it the we in US. It's only 03%, which could replaced by Canada with the Keystone Pipeline. Also when current President leaves office, American will ramp up it's own production.
  • Jay ScoutLdr 2012/07/24 22:37:22
    Jay
Ok so one country got less crude oil then a dozen in Europe. Funny that. Ok you guys got 03% we got more than you. So we got, what, 05%?
  • ScoutLdr Jay 2012/07/26 13:04:28
    ScoutLdr
We import from the United Kingdom 11.7 million barrels and11.3 million barrels of oil from Iraq. We went to war for WMD's which most like were moved to Syria. Get over it!

Yeah I'm sure you know all the facts! I mean when have the American government ever lied to the entire planet? I wonder did the media tell you this? And did the government tell them that? Hmm?
