I would like to point out that I have never felt this way about my mother. I think Freud sold us this because we probably do look for a woman that personality wise is as close to mom as can be because we almost always think the world of mother and would love our children to receive as good an upbringing as we got or better. Freud knew this, twisted some key words around and shocked everyone in the psycology and psychiatry world's into reading his findings and publications. However weird he was, he was a smart man.

Freud was sort-of onto something, but I really don't think we fantasize with having sex with our mothers, even on a subconscious level. I've seen into my subconscious before, and I have to say it is nowhere near as weird or f**ked-up as this guy said it would be.

I know the concept is well documented and researched in the field of psychology, but it has never manifested itself in me, except in a more vague and generalized sense.

I really am not well versed enough in general psyche to comment. I had one Gen Ed in it during undergrad like 5 years ago, and even then I did not pay close attention. It bored me.
