For parents; how often do you monitor your children's internet use? Be honest please!

I say this because more and more kids go online, are under 13, and are just not experienced enough to steer away from the predators out there. It's scary to see even kids on here that ask explicit questions that creepy older adults ( usually men) that answer them salaciously. So how often do you monitor their internet home use? I know you can't follow their use to a friend's house or a public venue, but you can check at at home.

Well my parents never do. Quite frankly they don't have to. I have a Facebook but really the only social networking site I use is tumblr and the worst I see on that is smutty fan art.

I think it's shame that your parents don't. It's not just sites you see or might, but it's the people you might end up chatting with. Plenty of older creepy male pervs. go to these and bug kids and/or pretend to be them. It's a very real danger out there. Please be careful....

Thank you for your concern in my safety but I can assure you I am pretty safe on the Internet, and my parents know that. I think it all depends on who the kid is to be honest.

Overall, yes, that's true. But if even adults can get duped so can kids. It's always best to go in caution for everyone.

I'm not a parent, but if I was I would probably check it a lot mainly because I'm a very obsessive/OCD person. My parents check mine maybe a few times a week. Sometimes I delete the history, though. I don't really have anytime to hide except for some violent animes or somewhat innappropriate anime/manga.

The world is a lot more compact and yet global today, and the dangers are very real. I'm sure your parents try their best, and you appear to be very conscientious which is a good thing. I hope communication between you and parents is very good.

It's scary, Sister. I have belonged to other sites, like entertainment forums, where there are a lot of kids. Some creepy old men infiltrated the site and were posing like other kids. I complained to site's owners and the police. It was both horrible and disgusting.
