Fear can be a double edge sword. One one hand it can help guarantee our survival. One the other hand we may fear something that is only in our imagination and that can be destructive because it detaches us from reality. Fear is both taught and learned depending on the source of that fear.
Instinctual. It is a necessary part of our survival gear. If it is fear of doing something godd and you do it anyway, that is courage. If it is something good and you don't do it, that is usually cowardice.
Come on, it is the greatest discovery of the mankind, if fire was not discovered, we would rather be like the apes we were. It is energy, it is nature's profound secret of productiveness, destructiveness also. We posess fire, so we possess the crown.
Both. Parents can tell a child "Don't touch that! It's fire, it's very hot and can hurt you!" If they listen, they learned to fear/respect the fire. But if a child touches it, they learn for themselves. Kids seem to lack the inner voice that comes from experience, as opposed to most of the rest of the animal kingdom, that seems to have more instinct.
