FCC cracks down on loud commercials

I wish this would happen in Australia. They've tried to tell us for years that the commercial volume was level with the TV shows, but now thanks to digital tv, it's easy to take a sample of the wave file from both show and commercial and compare their decibel levels and that shows a huge difference.

They have been lying to us too.

It's about damn time!! I hate those loud commercials. When people are trying to talk to each other during commercials so that they don't miss their show the volume becomes so loud you have to yell at each other....until someone gets fed up and mutes the TV.

In my home, TIVO cracked down on all commercials !

I much rather see legislation limiting commercials to ten percent of a station's air time.

This was passed at the beginning of 2011. It should have been implemented by now.

Thank you, finally. I can usually sleep through the show without waking up at the commercials because they're so loud...I nap while my roommate has the t.v. on because she rarely turns it off. Or try to, anyway. My sleep pattern goes something like this: .......!!!!....!!! ...and then I give up.

I do get frustrated at television going to commercial and blowing my ear drums out with an ad for shampoo

There is nothing more aggravating when watching t.v. that the loud blasts that come with the onset of a commercial. I didn't think there was anything they could do, to be honest. I am glad though. it was irritating to say the least.

I got tired of the endless commercial breaks a long time ago. Now I only watch TV via the Internet.

Finally..............commercials are bad enough but when they blow you out of your chair it's irritating. You have to get ready to jump on your remote. They advertised a smart TV that was supposed to equalize the volume. It must not have went over because when I looked for a TV they weren't available.

My TV was supposed to do that but it doesn't work, never did.

No wonder they didn't go over big if they didn't work. Not such a smart TV after all - Huh??

I'm doing OK. It's been fairly mild for this time of the year, no snow on the ground. It's not looking too good for a white Christmas this year. I'm not complaining though, no snow means no shoveling. A little on Christmas Eve would be nice. It is harder to get into the spirit without any.

I put as much stock in Wikis as I do in SH responses. ZERO. But MSM does have more disinformation than all news sources.

I love wikipedia. Me and some buds have been putting BS on it since day one. Very few have ever been removed or so called "fact checked". Media in general is full of liberal bias.

Wikipedia is a joke...you can't get reliable information out of it. People can edit it anytime and put a lot of BS in it.

That's great! Disturbing thing is that it's not that far from the truth. It's incredible that more people don't see this bias...or if they do, they don't see it as a bad thing.

Well as long as the media is on their side they're happy. They don't care what's true and what's not true. That's why they're so upset at FOX news. FOX tells another side of the story and that doesn't fit with the Liberal view of the world...so naturally FOX lies, right? lol

Yeah, they all twist the truth somewhat, but I think FOX gets closer to the middle than a lot of the others. That's why they have the best ratings. If they lied as much as the Liberals have said people wouldn't watch.
