Famous Couples Sleep in Separate Beds: Hollywood Weird or Pretty Normal?

Some couples say that sleeping in separate beds not only improves their sleeping habits, but their sex lives too. According to The New York Times, one in four American couples sleep separately! And now that some celebrities are open about their sleeping set-up, perhaps the practice will become widely admired. Couples like Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter and Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian are only a few of the many celeb couples who sleep separately. What do you think about it? Is it weird or normal? Emails, loud neighbors, stress -- there's enough to wrestle with as it is when it comes to getting enough good-quality shuteye. But add in a sleep partner who snores or hogs the covers or loves to snooze with the TV on, and a little tossing and turning can become full-on sleep deprivation.

weird for me but normal for 170 people - my husband has gone to sleep in the spare room when I am working graves - he works days so it is difficult for him to sleep while I am getting ready for work - I think it happened less than a half dozen times so it is very rare

It's an age thing I think. The older a couple gets, the more they sleep in separate beds. WHY this is so is anyone's guess, but it is what it is.

Its a nice idea to cuddle up with you partner at the end of the day but what if your a loud snorelax and the other is a light sleeper, what if you move alot in your sleep and wack the other in the face wakeing them up, what if you like your space once in the awhile and forgeting that your limited that role outta bed.... The idea sleeping in seprate beds isnt normal though because you think once that other person that you two both become one unit so you share every and do everthing together. But there are some things that you need to work with. I think its not a bad idea for those who have the room you know and if not that is when its nice to have a huge really comfy coach. I think its nice to have your space once in awhile so that your able to breath on your own and then have that feeling that you want to be by that other person even more constantly but also stay dedicated and true :P

Not 'weird', but not good either. It's usually a sign that the relationship isn't what it should be.

What if you're at work when the hubby gets up in the morning? Not everyone gets to work the same hours - so......they sleep in separate bedrooms - although if I were either Kourtney Kardashian or Scott Disick - I would want to sleep in separate bedrooms just to escape the crazy person living with me LOL

There are lots of reasons to sleep in seperate beds that have nothing to do with hostility or avoiding intimiacy.

Just because two people are married doesn't mean that they can sleep under the same conditions. Some like noise, some have to have complete quiet. Some sleep with the TV on, some need total darkness. Sleeping in separate rooms also gives each person their own space. It's perfectly normal.

I was just talking to my boyfriend about our lack of sleep we get when either of us stays over. Sure sure, the bed isn't just for sleeping, but when it's time to get some zzzzz's it's nice to be able to get comfy in my own spot without worrying ~> do you have enough room, blanket, pillows, is the fan blowing your way, etc. Mind you I love the closeness of sleeping with him, the safe 'nothing can go wrong' feeling. I also like a good nights rest.So I am down for the separate beds. or if we had the room, one huge bed the size of a room, yet he would still say I take all the blankies. and I would still say I can hear you snoring. :) I just enjoy the times that I have with him. being in his arms is the best place to fall asleep. but I wake up sore as can be. so catch 22.

You could be correct - maybe Mason isnt even their baby? Who Knows? Maybe he is a little actor that is playing the part? I have seen that guy on tv and I gotta tell ya - there is not one thing about him that would make me want to share a child with him...LOL

They should do what makes them happy. I don't see the point in sleeping in the same bed every single night. Also, why must sex occur in a bed? I love the idea of couples having their own bedrooms- perhaps with a connecting hallway? Separate bathrooms and bedrooms is a fantastic idea- it's great if one partner is sick and when guests come it's easier to share.

Also, what if someone snores or is annoying?

Famous or not it is usually more comfortable sleeping alone in your own bed. Why do some people associate not sleeping in the same bed with your spouse as having a bad marriage, or no sex.?
