I like them once and a while. But the only thing that really bothers me is trying to get them off afterwards. I don't like that they damage my nail either. But I like them when I feel like being a girly girl.
Some people have good nails. I never have! My nails break constantly and look like the hands of an old washerwoman, so I've gotten acrylics for years. However, now, I use acrylics to make my nails look natural but I keep them very short. The polish stays on, the nails are never ragged and it looks neat and clean. I can't get my contacts out if I let them grow even a little bit.
it does not need to damage your nails underneath.. the trouble is that people try removing the nails by them selves.
Get the acrylic, it is really strong and you can decorate with air brushing, glitter, beads.. the acrylic can take it and will still look shiny and keep their shape.
Every 2 weeks get them filled, cleaned and polished. If you have ANY numbness or feeling of pressure on your fingers then have them removed by the manicurist. Treat your nails to gentle scrubbing and buffing and let them breathe for 2 weeks before you get them done again..
Forget about the UV gel nails.. they claim to have less harsh chemicals but the nails are also much more fragile. They will not hold up well, they break easy and are just as much trouble to remove as acrylic.
If you have the extra money, silk wrap nails are the most natural looking, and they are the least likely to damage your real nails when they need to be removed - they WILL need to be removed because they are soft and going to get damaged, but they have the least amount of chemicals that can harm your natural nails underneath.
