From reports around the web, the Facebook ticker hasn't disappeared for everyone, but it is gradually going away for some. Let's assume for a second that you don't have the feature on the upper right-hand side of the site. Would you really miss the constant update of what this or that friend is listening to, reading, or "liking" at this very moment?

Mark Zuckerberg giveth and he taketh away. Facebook users are reporting today that they can no longer see the real-time "Ticker" that describes their friends' activities on the right side of the Facebook home page.

It is intensely irritating. My eyes are drawn to the movement, and my friends usually don't do anything more interesting than me.

I never understood the point of the real-time ticker. I also don't understand the point of timeline. Lets just go back to calling it "the wall."

Because facebook thinks it knows what is important and what is not. And its often very wrong. But everything shows up in the ticker so I can go through that and see what facebook edited out and did not show me in the news feed. Now I'll be at facebook's mercy and will miss things I would have found interesting or important. I hate facebook and wish there was an alternative. But it only works because everybody is there.

There were many who didn't want it in the first place.

Zuckerberg has a website that he makes worse in some way with every "update" and is destroying it with no apparent concern.
