Face Yoga Is the Newest Anti-Aging Trend: Do You Think It Actually Works?

The world of yoga continues to expand—this time to the face. Instead of doing traditional yoga poses like downward dog or the warrior pose, facial yoga involves contorting the face into a variety of expressions. These expressions, developed by Annelise Hagen of New York Yoga, are meant to keep people looking younger by acting as a natural, non-invasive alternative to botox or a facelift.

“The various faces have specific benefits,” Hagen told ABC News. “For example, the ‘fish face’ firms the cheeks and lips, while the ‘bumblebee’ affects the cheeks, lips and jaw. The ‘satchmo’ targets the cheeks, and the lion face is supposed to stretch all the facial muscles and release tension.”

The idea of making weird faces in an effort to prevent aging seems a bit crazy to us. But facial yoga certainly has its proponents. One fan is Dr. Neil Sadick, the go-to dermatologist for some of the stars of “The Real Housewives of New York.” He recommends facial yoga to patients as a way to stimulate the muscles and promote collagen production.

So, what do you think SodaHeads? Does face yoga actually work?

Stay away from Yoga ,... the utterances during this practice , actually calls on demonic hindu spirits .

Satan is responsible for all disease , so when people practice yoga , he may ease up on ones' physical issues in order to deceive them into continuing this practice , instead of seeking Truth = ending up in the future Lake of Fire ...

not sure if this makes sense or not, but I would think that stretching your face into odd positions would cause more wrinkles in the long run.

Actually I would have thought that the wrinkles and lines we develop over the years are caused by pulling facial expressions over time. They'll probably just exacerbate what they're trying to prevent

I've been doing it for years. I started doing it before I needed to, to get a head start. It works for me. I don't stick my tongue out like that though. lol
I had to take a loooong break from it after my lung surgery. Just the thought of doing it after that made me weak on my stomach, because everything in and around my torso was so sensitive. It still is but it's better than it was. I'm just now getting back into it a year later... or TRYING too. :)

Although I'm very skeptipal, you can't really tell just how well something works without
giving it the old college try.

I imagine that it would, after all you are using facial muscles that you would not normally use.

It probably has SOME sort of affect. I saw this video (below) one time. It looks good and like it maybe could be beneficial but the problem is you have no idea if it actually works or not because the person doing it looks like she's had botox.

I have a very expressive face. Coincidentally I also look quite young for my years. So maybe it's not quite so coincidental. ^^

If done on a regular basis it will help tighten your face muscles. It's no face lift but it is an affordable and safe way to slow the effects of aging. It's also good for improving your influence in social interactions. A salesmen I know exercises his face regularly. He claims that strengthening the face muscles allows for more pronounced facial expressions allowing him to persuade clients easier by expressing himself more freely. The man is a business genius, and a guru when it comes to making sales.
