I used to be pretty good at Spanish. Now, since we're almost forced to speak it in TX, I will NOT speak a word of it! The Mexicans here are vocal about their intent to turn this back into Mexico by overrunning us with their presence. They fully admit that Mexico is a failed country, but still intend to make this Mexico.
I actually Can not speak English well at all... My first language is Finnish, then Swedish, and I am Fluent several other European language. If there is such thing as "last language" it would definitely be English for me..
Even though English is my only language, I still have difficulty in expressing myself and conveying my feelings how I would like. I feel so inadequate sometimes when I wish to tell someone how I feel or what I think about them. This sometimes leads to them misunderstanding me and getting the wrong message. I wish I was far better at this.
Haha I'm so happy you had it! Most people never even know it's a language and think we all speak Arabic xD And I can read/write/understand French but my speaking is a lot slower. So I'm almost fluent. I know quite a bit of Spanish, little bit of German and Arabic and Korean.
Oh come one, we have the same letters and almost same pronunciation we share a lot of words what I have read is that Farsi use 50% of Arabic words and that's very close. Farsi was different language about 1400 years ago but after the spread of the Islamic Empire in the Persian Area the Arabic language affected the Persian language as will as the Persian affected the Arabic but not as much as Arabic did. And that's because of religious reason the Arabic language is the language of Qur'an and also the Arabs were very conservative to their language. And now the Farsi shares same letters and a lot of words also some grammar and even some literature.
I love Arabic and I'm slowly learning and while it's true that we have the same ALPHABET, that does not mean it's the same language. Arabic is a Semitic language, within the Afroasiatic language family whereas Farsi is Indo-European. Conquests over the years HAVE lead to similarities between the language but that's not the same as being the "closest language to Arabic". Hebrew and Amharic are much closer, as well as several more obsecure languages.
Understand? English and a tiny bit of French.
I learned at school English German and French.
Only my French has become rusty because I haven't used it much!
Working on German and Swedish.
I'm getting there with French & Indonesian though ..
عربي أنا
And I'm trying to learn Russian
