Donald Trump said that "Everything in life is luck". Wouldn't you agree though, that when you are born into wealth, that this gives you an advantage in life? Sure, you can say that being born into wealth is luck, too. But what about the individual who decides to pursue their education and build their career before building a family?

Some people believe that your life's path is guided by the stars. Christians believe that God has mapped out your destiny. Scientology believes that you are in charge of your life and chance has little or no part in it.

I think it can be both. The guys who win the lottery certainly were lucky. But I think that the individual has a great deal to do with the path that his life takes.

What do you think? Do you agree with The Donald that "Everything in life is luck?"

I agree, luck here not just "lucky" but luck in term of "preparation meets opportunity"

Why did he said that? Becase he knows that you can rationalize ANY decision you make. You don't need any. You need the right one which can be made only by lucky choice! Scientific researches alredy proved that even with exellent strategy your chances for success are minimal without Luck! Trump knows this by experience.

Not everything. I believe we pave our own path. Throughout life we make choices, and during the course of life, along the way we run into luck (good luck/bad luck).

You can work your butt off all your life and without some luck, you will never get anywhere.
At the same time, you can do nothing all your life, and no amount of luck can make something of your life.
Success, financial, emotional, intellectual, social, is all a complex dance between decisions and chance. To discount either is to forget how you got where you are.

Biologist! Wow - that is pretty far off the mark.

I just realized that the line that I like so much also rhymes!

"COMPLEX DANCE BETWEEN DECISIONS AND CHANCE" I think you should consider a career change into song writing and poetry! (LOL)

lol I just realized that as well. After six years in school for bio, and 2 more to go, I don't think I'll be making any radical change to my trajectory. Maybe, though, I can make scientific literature a little more accessible and pleasant to read. :)

I'm sure you can. But here's an idea: I've never seen a biology paper in rhyme! Maybe we're onto something new and unique! (LOL)

lol Unless I was subtle enough for the stuffed shirts at my college not to notice, they'd probably run me right off campus.
