Ever have an ex call you out of the blue?

And tell you they've been thinking about you and how they just wanted to hear your voice? This same ex once showed up on my doorstep (from 4,000 miles away), because he had to "see how I was", only to leave less than 24 hrs. later.
He broke it off. Has been in several relationships since, last I knew is in a relationship now as well. It's been 8 yrs since we broke up and keep in contact a few times a year. We vowed to always stay friends, which has proven to be harder than expected at times. But when I'm going along in life and I'm doing good, he does this and totally confuses me! If he's so happy and moved on then why does he have a desire to "hear my voice" out of the blue? He ended the conversation by letting me know he'd be in the states at the end of October & hopes we can talk more when we are on a better time difference.
Any Dr. Drew's out there? ;-)

(which is why I have call block right at my handset .. )
ex's are ex's for a reason, sometimes by our doing, sometimes by theirs but either way, they're an ex.
They usually asked for "another night", and I tell them them same:
"You'll need to get my *WIFE'S* permission first."
The majority stutter and stammer, and change the subject.
A couple have gotten their feelings hurt when they *ASKED*, but I told them that *I* don't "work outside business" any more.
NO ONE, is more important to me than she is.
They can't hold a light to her in my eyes.
