There are few stories more amazing than the story of Elizabeth Smart, the young woman who was kidnapped from her bedroom as a teenager and then miraculously found nine months later. She was 14 then, but Smart is now a 24-year-old college senior and child advocate -- and she's also a married lady.
Smart tied the knot with 22-year-old Matthew Gilmour last Saturday at a Mormon temple in Hawaii. "Elizabeth's desire was for what most women want -- to celebrate her nuptials in a private wedding with family and close friends," family spokesman Chris Thomas said in a statement. "We're just thrilled that she's married," her father, Ed Smart, told The Salt Lake Tribune.
And since the wedding was "kind of a spur of a moment thing," as her dad put it, Smart didn't have a lot of time to pick out her dress. "I tried on just about every dress in Utah," Smart tells People. She wound up choosing an Alita Graham gown with lace sleeves, a sweetheart neckline and satin-covered buttons down the back. "It was traditional, but still was different," she told People. “I felt like it was just perfect." Do you think Elizabeth Smart's wedding dress was just as perfect -- or was it a bit plain?
