ELECTRIC FENCE IN THE FLORIDA EVERGLADES

BARRY0619 2012/06/16 11:43:56
IN
THE FLORIDA EVERGLADES

AN
ELECTRIC FENCE

A
sheep farmer was puzzled about the disappearance of some sheep on
his farm. After a few weeks the farmer decided to put up an
electric fence.

About
a week later, this is what he found!

KIU

Now,
I know we've all heard of people being eaten by snakes & I bet
most of us have said, 'If a snake tried to eat me, I'd blah, blah,
blah & get away.'

Well,
this is a Python & they're extremely aggressive & have a
few teeth that they use to hold their prey while they wrap around
them & then constrict.

Could
you get away if this one bit you & held on with it's
'few
teeth?'

(Note:
The wires are 10 inches apart.)

The stupid people who introduced this to the Everyglades should face criminal penalities including huge fines and jail time.

I've seen pics of a python that died trying to eat a gator. My bro worked for a nuculear plant down there, ans saw many pics in the Tampa area papers of huge 24 footers caught crossing roads.Don't wanna meet one of those for sure.

Thank you so much for the visual aid. Now I can once again experience the nightmares I've always had about snakes (and alligators, believe it or not) that I once thought I had gotten over. Yuck.

I know you're watchful living that close ,but be wary of these things ,they get dumped by irresponsible owners ,and thrive ,and BREED there .The articulated python is the most dangerous ,as they have no fear of humans.

right next to the sugar cane fields. Some people like an occasional leg of lamb, others like wool coats. i could take you straight to at least 8 farms that have them in the area around Immokalee and Clewiston

Wool coats go over great in the Florida humidity.. yeah right. As for leg of lamb, lamb is not a high demand meat, and you may be able to show me people who have a few sheep so they can get an agricultural exemption, but they are not commercially raised there, and the soil is not orange or red there either.

There is some demand from Island folks, Africans, and other immigrants for lamb and sheep, but the demand is not especially high. My guess is that sheep in Florida would be raised farther north, not in the Everglades or even around the Okeechobee region except as an adjunct to cattle raising.

a guess means you have a 90-10 chance of being wrong, and since I have hauled materials to 2 of the farms on my semi, I would put the odds at 100% chance of being wrong.

Let me guess- you think your clothes all come from the factory right up the street from you, and all your food comes from that farm just south of Brunswick? there is a new invention called th internal combustion engine, and it lets people move raw products all over the planet to be processed and manufactured far from the source of origination. Not much demand for Wool coats in the Texas Hill country were 50% of the nations wool is produced either, but there is a big area that mohair keeps employed- and most of the people don't own a thing of wool

Boys and girls this is why Hawaii is very restrictive of ever letting a snake or other critters into this environment where they can thrive.

Without help, if a python bites you, because of the configuration of its teeth, pointing back towards its mouth, the more a person or animal struggles, the more the teeth trap whatever it bites.
Creds to this farmer who was smart enough to protect his sheep with this fence.
These snakes are not indigenous and, especially the reticulated pythons, are very dangerous.
Shame on the people who, when the snake got too big to be handled at their homes, let these predators into the Everglades. Very irresponsible! This is why law after law has to be passed because of the few who create a problem.

They're not only found in the Everglades...they are found in neighborhoods, under peoples homes, and all over south Florida...It IS because of the irresponsible pet owner..Shame on them

They're starting to move north also. If the weather continues to be warmer than usual, their territory will increase. For this reason alone, I hope we go into a mini ice age like some scientists have predicted. People and animals can live through them. Pythons could not. And isn't there some kind of African species that's been put in the Everglades too, that scientists are afraid will mate with the python and create a super snake? Ugh!!!
