In 2012, I have a solid job that pays me more now than I've ever earned, I'm employed and not contracting, I get solid benefits and vacation time, and I have a place to live that's not going to be foreclosed because my landlord's delinquent on the payments despite getting my money on time every month (as what happened in '08.)
The economy started going downhill at the beginning of the 21st Century. The difference between those who are doing better and those who aren't is that when the bubble began to pop, those who were at the bottom didn't have that much farther to fall. This held true in my situation. However, those who were living well lost the most once the bubble completely popped. Unfortunately for them, the government opted to bail out the institutions that lead to this instead of the citizens themselves. I'm not surprised that the discontent has gotten this bad and don't foresee it getting better until everyone's situation improves.
