We know some people have a thing for underwear, but a mystery eBay bidder has paid $17,871 for a pair of bloomers that may or may not have belonged to Queen Elizabeth ... 44 years ago, The Daily Mail reports. The queen is currently 86 years old, and the undies were "found" in 1968, meaning the queen "may" have been rocking these granny panties when she was a sprightly 42 years old.

The knickers -- embroidered with the letter "E" and a picture of a crown -- were sold by the estate of the late "Baron" Joseph de Bicske Dobronyi, who said they were left behind on a private plane when the queen visited Chile in 1968, the Mail reports. Dobronyi, who died in 2010, said they were given to him by the pilot.
The undies were listed as "previously used," but said to be in good condition, despite some signs of aging. The auction was described as a "once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire and own a piece of collectable royal memorabilia," and there were 18 bids in total. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase a pair of gigantic, obviously used underwear that probably never belonged to the queen, that is. But to each his own...
