Eating Dessert First Helps You Lose Weight
Here’s some sweet news for people who are dieting to lose weight: New research has found some people who eat dessert first are better able to control, and maintain, a healthy diet – boosting their odds of losing weight and keeping the pounds off.
The findings, published in the Journal of Consumer Research, indicate having a sweet treat before a meal appears to boost the willpower to avoid unhealthy foods, and may make dieters less likely to overindulge later on cookies and candies.
In a series of studies, researchers Joseph P. Redden of the University of Minnesota and Kelly L. Haws of Texas A&M; University found people who successfully control their diets eat fewer unhealthy foods because they are satisfied sooner.
