I don't need them to do that, I do it my self, I turn OFF my phone each time I go into a restaurant, more for me than anyone else.
If I can't have a lousy 30 or 40 minutes to eat MY lunch or have dinner without worrying about my stupid phone, then I have no life. The phone is for MY convience not for every Tom, Dick, & Harry that thinks they have to have access to me every waking second of the day.

I think it's rude to constantly be on a phone when eating with others. I could go a week or more without my phone.

It's what happens when I'm at home. No phone at the table during family meals. DUH.

No, that would be too hard for me.

Ohhh I misunderstood this. Yes I could leave it with her then leave the restuarant with it. I thought you meant give it to her forever.

I don't use my phone in restaurants but I don't trust my brand new phone with some idiot for 5% back on a 40 dollar bill (that's 2 dollars..).

Also what if there is an emergency? Not worth it.

Just like before modern medicine people survived... until like 50. You're really not factoring in what happens if Iran nukes us, or aliens attack, or yetis... my cellphone is humanities' last hope.

if that happens, it wont matter if you have your cell:)

again, if you're blown up on the spot, which could very well be the case in those scenarios, it wont matter if you have your phone.

What if I want to order a pizza?
  • Jo Sterling 2012/08/19 04:53:22
    Jo
why would you want to order a pizza while sitting in a restaurant?
  • Sterling Jo 2012/08/19 20:22:01

    Because I can.

um, if you;re a little kid that has no couth? yeah, I guess you could. would you get thrown out of a restaurant for trying to do that? yes, more than likely. Funny, most people that order out for pizza do so from the comfort of thier home---you want to go out to a restaurant and do it. how old are you, anyway?

Easily. I get annoyed when people call me when I'm eating anyway, and usually turn my phone off if I remember to.

If I can put the iPhone in my golf bag while I play for 4 hours, I think 1-2 hours in a restaurant is a cake walk.

Since I don't carry a cell phone with me all the time it would be difficult to "check" it at the door!

I turn my phone off at restaurants and I don't answer calls when I eat dinner at home.
I don't think I would hand an expensive phone over to someone I don't know to save 5% off my bill.

I could, but I wouldn't! Too much private stuff on my phone to turn it over to a stranger! I'll do what I always do, turn it off or ignore it!

I always leave my phone in the truck when I'm in a restaurant ,movie theater or when I am busy doing something. That's what text and voice mail are for.

But I do have a suggestion. When going to dinner, have everyone place their cellphones in the center of the table. The first person to answer their phone (should it ring) has to pay the bill! Works every time........and you get a lot of free dinners.

i usually leave my phone at home, so it'd be a case of remembering to bring my phone so i could turn it off by the door, rather than obsessively texting and struggling to turn it off.

Would they offer 5% if I proved that I did not have a phone on me at all? :P I don't own a cell phone. I don't think I would part with it for 5% off if I had one, though, simply because of trust issues.

I have friends who play a "game" when they go out to dinner together: they stack the cell phones in the center of the table, and whoever reaches for theirs first (unless they get a call they can't ignore-- work, parents, ect) has to pay for everyone else's dinner. I don't have a phone, so I'm never included in this bet, but usually everyone ends up paying for their own food anyways because we're all broke and nobody wants to be stuck with a huge bill. :)

secondly, if there was an emergency and something happened that I could have prevented, they are opening themselves up for a lawsuit
