I was watching a TV show yesterday that truly amazed me. It was called Bridzilla's and some gal on there made this statement. She was griping at her husband to be as to why he drove through a certain part of Houston because she absolutely hated poor people and was afraid of them. I thought that was so incredible that someone was that heartless. Do you dislike poor people?

MAGGIE IRISH EYES 2007/09/13 14:25:22No+30I dislike arrogant, greedy, rich people who flaunt their wealth and look down upon those who are less fortunate.

you make it look like an attack......
Might I suggest you define your statements better, I was only saying that if you are going to say things that sound like attacks, people will make that designation....
so I am going to call you kiddo, if I don't that's when I am attacking someone...
I used to organize the "adoption" of a family for Christmas, and would tell the Family Services people that I wanted a family that "there but for the grace of God go I." Each year we got families who were suddenly overcome by an illness that went on too long; a loss of a job, very often totally out of their control (downsizing, sent to another country, etc.); or a death of the major breadwinner.
Few of us could handle an illness that meant we couldn't work for more than a few months. Few of us could handle an illness of a child that forced us to stay home to take care of them, because professional care would cost more. Few of us could handle the loss of a job that required us to finally take on a much lower paying job just to make ends even come close together.
There are many people out there wondering how they're going to feed their kids tonight. There are many kids with the full responsibility for sick parents or grandparents, paying the bills, cleaning the house, cooking the food, instead of being upset that their parents won't buy them a cell phone.
The average poor person in the United States is in the 4th grade.

Indeed, there but for the grace of God go I. Thank you God that I have a roof over my head, food to eat, a way to sustain myself, my health and a healthy family - and the wisdom to know the difference.
She won't get away that statement. Karma is just around the bend..
P.S. BTW...since I retired I have become one. A poor person, that is.
