In my neck o the woods, it's not unusual for the Red Cross to have to furnish dozens of pints of blood to the criminal gunshot/stabbing victims who can't seem to live without mayhem and death on any given weekend.. Sometimes hundreds of pints. What a waste of time and effort.

The use of blood transfusions has been PROVEN to do more harm than good. The development of bloodless surgical procedures and the use of blood enhancers and artifical blood produces far more success.

None of the above I donate time and lots of it. I serve with the Red Cross as a Disaster Action Team, on the Training Team, on the Shelter Team, and as a Shelter Manager.

I used to donate blood on a regular basis at the VA Hospital when I was younger. Then, my gay ex-husband infected me with hepatitis non-a, non-b (that's code for they have no idea what it was) and they no longer want my blood. I feel lucky thathat was lethal.t it wasn't something that gave me permanent liver damage or was lethal for that matter!
