Charities depend on people sacrificing something important. People often donate money, but some donate blood. Given the choice, would you prefer to donate blood or money?
The American Red Cross today reported dangerously low levels of blood and platelet supplies, with 50,000 fewer blood donations than expected for the month of June. +3In my neck o the woods, it's not unusual for the Red Cross to have to furnish dozens of pints of blood to the criminal gunshot/stabbing victims who can't seem to live without mayhem and death on any given weekend.. Sometimes hundreds of pints. What a waste of time and effort.

Then, my gay ex-husband infected me with hepatitis non-a, non-b (that's code for they have no idea what it was) and they no longer want my blood.
