Does your spouse/s.o. have any habits that nearly kept you from being together?

My husband wears the rattiest clothes and has lousy grammar, plus he's an alcoholic. Why I actually said "I do", is because I didn't want to disappoint the parents. Stupid - they're not the ones who have to live with him.

I've been with my husband, who is my second husband for 28 years and we've been married for 25. He is by far the easiest man in the world to live with. He's kind, considerate, very clean and not at all demanding. The thing that some women might not like is that he is not someone who wants to celebrate birthdays or the usual man made holidays like Valentines Day. He's not one to send flowers or give me cards. What he does do is treat me like it's Valentine's Day every day. I don't like spending money on frivolous items anyway. I can buy whatever I want whenever I want and he would never say a word.

My first husband was gay and that's a deal breaker!

Not married and right now single.

Hmm how long have you two been together? Alcoholism kinda a deal breaker for me. I can learn to overlook the other things mentioned.

...I think they can be "unique" ...? ...however.. it's when those habits affect the significant other that are more viewed as an unhealthy addiction.

OMG you need help! You married an alcoholic to please your parents?
I married a man who was just right for a time. Then he developed habits that are now most definitley keeping us from being together.

My boyfriend when we got together seemed like the perfect guy..
Then as the months went on stuff came out of the wood work.
    he is addicted to Marijuana
he cannot spell to save his life..
And i have to hold his hand in any dicissions.
We have been together for almost 2 years now.
Things are the same. but maybe that makes me love him?

I'm not married. Every person that I have ever dated had something annoying about them - that's why I'm not with them anymore. Some of the annoyances were deal breakers, others were just human quirks. When the other persons habits actually make you hate them - it's time to get the heck out... at least that's what I've learned. Oh and I'm perfect ;-o (j.k.)
