I think pets have an innate ability to understand your moods. I know there have been times when I've been really sad and my doberman (or before that my poodles) have just sighed and laid beside me, or put their head on my lap. Something that just said, "I'm with you".

I think so !! Animals are smarter than most people think.... Also remember being sick a couple of times and waking up to both cats sleeping at the foot of the bed. They never do that, one always will chase the other away.

Mine always did. I think animals can sense our emotions from our body language. Mine would always give me one of his toys to cheer me up. And of course, insist I pet him, since it's a well known fact that petting your dog will make you stop being sad.

Yes the oldest one is really sensitive and always can feel when i'm sad. Then he comes, whine and cuddle me with his muzzle. It's really cute and always make me feel better =)

dogs are incredibly intelligent and stupid anmials at the same time.... one of my friends dogs could tell that i had a foot injury so he wouldn't leave me alone and started growling whenever my friend came near me as if to protect me from his own master xD it was so cute and dumb at the same time.. so i would say they can sense when you're sad too

Animals are very sensitive to all our moods as there are micro diferences in the way that we smell and behave,,,

There are dogs that are being trained to detect the early signs of prostrate cancer and others to warn an epiletic owner when they are about to have a fit, so that they lay down.
