As a tall woman I am curious what the general thought is about height in a relationship.

I'm 5'0'', so all of the women I've been attracted to over the years have been invariably taller than me by several inches or more. Judging by the poll results here and eslewhere, height seems to be more of a deal breaker to women than to men (of course, I'm generalizing a bit and there are always exceptions). For me, it really doesn't matter at all. If the emotional connection is there, she can be a Pygmy, an Amazon, or anywhere else along the spectrum.

If I were to say that I had a personal preference, it would probably be for taller women, but that may just be a natural illusory correlation or adaptive trait stemming from the fact that I've met VERY few women who are shorter than me.

I've never dated a guy shorter than me but i dont think that it really matters. My choice wasnt based on height it was based on personality, so i guess it doesnt matter.

I'm 6'2" and once dated a beautful woman who was 6'5". It was rather cool; it didn't bother me and she was certainly used to being with shorter men. The communication and ties we shared were what made our relationship a pleasure.

The love of my life his head came up just to my chin. He had to buy shoes with lifters in them so when we went out dancing he at least came up to eye level. He was a wonderful guy and his height ment nothing to me. Quality over quantity is the best.

I feel this question is legitimate and not ridiculous. The media puts a lot of pressure on people to act and do what they say to do. I just want to see how far that extends into people's beliefs about relationships.

I find most of the media ridiculous as well, Corinne. In the real world, it doesn't make a difference. I have, however, seen relationships crash simply because one or the other involved couldn't stand up to their friends about height/weight/skin condition, etc.

I guess it really doesn't matter, but I prefer to date women shorter than me. My 'ideal' height for a woman is between 5'3" and 5'7". At 6' myself, the vast majority of women are shorter than me.
