As an atheist, I don't shy away from the fact that a number of religious organization have been led by those who were lacking in morality; however, this poll misses the mark. The biggest problem with this poll is that the term "Psycho Killer" is a Talking Heads song and not a legitimate medical term. Secondly, since the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century, Christianity has not has not had a universally recognized central authority.

The Crusades were only Huge to us, in our minds. We we're distractions from the Real Threats, which was fanatic newly converted Muslims in the Steppes had turned back and we're ripping the heart out of Muslim India, Persia, and Iran, with armies in the hundred of thousands, as punishment for being too lax in enforcing religious discipline on unbelievers. (Turks and Mongols).

The Christian Crusades were Christians who answers the call for help, mainly from Greece to stop the muslims from taking over the entire continent. It is not the Christian leaders like the Pope, who is the killers.It is their flock of believers, who claim to have the same religon.. We have killer Polticial leaders who claim their are Christian. We have political Jewish leaders who are killers too. In California, look at who wrote the legistlation to poison our drinking water and food supplies and the leaders who wrote bills to cover it up and not be held liable. They are politicians of those two religons.

Unfortunately, it does, just like most other religions in history. Does that mean that Christianity is bad? No. Just that it has had bad leaders. Keep in mind that ALL leaders, regardless of religion, are HUMAN. They are not perfect. Nor will they be.

Christianity is more a relationship than a religion. Yes, there are organizations of like-minded people who form denominational Christian churches, but a "genuine' Christian is a person who has come to Jesus Christ as an individual, on God's terms.

While every person who attends a Christian church can be considered "religious" because they attend, not every person who attends IS a Christian, because that involves a personal transformation of one's soul - through pure faith - in what Jesus did for them.

The point? Simply this; there are many who have done great evil under the guise of Christianity and other religions as well, but even the Bible states, "you shall recognize them by their fruit". It must be the goal of every Christian to emulate the life of Christ.
Not even the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, could find any fault in Him.

Any system of dogma will always attract a small cadre of unbalanced "true believers" who will do anything to force their system upon others, including murder. History is littered with examples, and they are not limited to Christians.

Only the Catholic Church had an episode of runaway killing, about a thousand years ago. And Catholics are nowhere near being the only Christians.
