Does running in place have the same benefits & effects as regular running?

    Running on terain outside or on a treadmill can work more muscles because you can go up and down hills which uses various muscles while running. While running in place and running outside will burn calories, muscles will work differently.

    doubt it. i mean, it's probably very boring and you end up running less as opposed to more when you're outside looking at stuff.

    Well aren't you going through more obstacles(if you want it call it like that) while outside?
    The wind might be hitting you,the air might be different,and sometimes the ground is different.

    Resistance, yes, you will use your muscles even more to push through obstacle, plus using different muscles as the area become hilly.

    I would imagine so. It's the calories burned off that matters not how it's done.

    It does matter how it is done if you want to sculpt the muscles. Running in place does not use the same muscles as running uphill or down hill, does not work them the same. Calorie burning may be the same or close to similar. Running in place may not raise the heart rate as much as running uphill does either.
