Does one need a book to teach you right from wrong? Or is it just common sense?

Unicorn only has to have it out if challenged to a duel! That would be cool!

We each seem to know right from wrong, but teh problem is that many people do not act upon that knowledge.

First book you should have is this one.

Right and wrong is not common sense and common sense isn't common any more. bible

Confucius called it "The Law of Reciprocity." The ancient Greek philosophers said it thus, "One should not treat others in ways that one would not like to be treated." Jesus put it into the positive with, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Eastern religions said, "What goes around comes around." All these sayings capture the same idea. It's simple logic. The way you treat others determines how they in turn treat you. Mankind knew this before they knew how to write -- before there were any books.

Highly dependent on the person we are talking about; their genetics; their environment; their family; school. Not everyone is the same though we all might seem similar enough most of the time.

Most people pick this stuff up but there are exceptions and people with major gaps in their learning or caring.

They don't always end up in prison either. Just look at Wall Street; they commit crimes and people just cover it up for them, make excuses, and kiss their ass. Not trying to advertise this as the way to be either ... no one needs to screw over other people to become wealthy. Some people are just that way.

People managed to pass along ideas pretty well before books were widely available.
