Does it mean people with piercings have mental problems?

Women with piercings in their mouth turns most everyone off.

My opinion is all that really matters to me when it comes to my piercings. I got my ear pierced when I was in 6th grade. Yes I did it to become part of the many guys in school who had thier ears pierced just to fit in. When time went on, I wanted to get more just for the fact that I liked how they looked on me and the longer I had them in, the more comfertable I felt and accepted they were now a part of me and who I am. Mental? Self mutilation? I put holes in my skin covered up by jewlery. I don't cut my face up and cut chunks out of my body. It's all around the world and you cannot get rid of it. Just like alcohol and sugar. It's everywhere. I'm me.

I want to say yes, yes, yes, yes, but that's only my prejudices speaking out. I just don't happen to like tattoos or piercings, period. I particularly detest looking at somebody who has something in their nose. It's disgusting. And I actually have seen boys, young men who have made those horrifically huge holes in their ears. God, are they going to regret that on a few years. What dopey idiots. But there I go again. It's their bodies, not mine.

But more to the actual question. Do they have mental problems? I would be willing to bet that probably 50% of the pierced crowd probably do have some mental issues. And then the other 50% are just following the fashion trends and being carefree kooks while they're at it.

I think its a young thing that some people grow out of and others don't but many when they get older regret marking their bodies up. There should be a limit to how many tattoos a person gets just for health reasons alone. I don't think there are mental health issues for the majority however maybe for some. I do believe that there may be issues of being noticed, I think some people like to be different and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Some people don't like to be invisible to expand a bit more on that last line.
