A video of a homeless man with a "golden" radio voice has gone viral on YouTube over the past few days, with over 11 million views. And here's the best part -- it actually helped the guy land a job.
Earlier this week, 53-year-old Ted Williams was standing on the road in Columbus, Ohio, with a handmade sign claiming to have the "God-given gift of a great voice." Turns out, the Brooklyn, N.Y., native actually studied radio when he was younger, before alcohol and drugs and "a few other things" became part of his life.
Now, he's two years clean -- and he's trying to break into the entertainment business.
"Hopefully somebody from one of these television or radio stations will say 'Hey, I need a voiceover or I need something,'" Williams says in the video. "I love radio."
Well, Williams is in luck. Just days after the video was posted, the Cleveland Cavaliers offered Williams a job and a house.
"They said they're going to give me LeBron's (James) old house," Williams joked to Matt Lauer on the "Today" show on Thursday.
NFL Films reached out to the Columbus Dispatch newspaper, which profiled Williams, to hire him for voice-over work, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told USA Today.
Pretty impressive for a guy who was living in a tent on Monday!
