It takes a great deal of both to power someone. Plus, there is reason behind faith, and faith behind reason.

Should have both or none option here as well.

They're not mutually exclusive. People are not one-dimensional. We were created in the "image" and "likeness" of God.
We are creatures of reason....that is obvious, but we are creatures of faith also.
Most of us seem unaware of just how many decisions - based on faith - we make on a daily basis.

If science truly works, would anything make "no logical sense"? Because everything can be explained with science, correct?

waaaiiit a minute! ur some teen trying trying to make some religious argument off some random internet post. i respect where ur going with this, but im not having the same old discussion for the ten thousandth time

Lol, I actually didn't expect a reply, but hey, good for you.

However, this is a website dedicated to arguments/deep debates based on each other's educated opinions. Did you not comment knowing the risk that maybe someone wanted to say something back? Especially starting with a statement so crude as "Science: It works, bitches."
  • GreyHeart LuLu Ca... 2012/07/15 02:40:54
i always expect replies because no matter what, on a post like this whether i give a respectful response or not, some theist is always trying to start an argument. i mean no direct disrespect, but i find it extremely difficult to take religious arguments seriously.

the whole reason behind me posting that particular pic is that science presents facts, and established facts are not subject to whether a person believes in them or not. there is a difference between truths and facts...

Faith is not a substitute for reason when reason is required, nor is reason a substitute for faith when faith is required. Both are important. Faith can move mountains, but it's a good idea to use a little reason when deciding where to put them.

I think it's better to base one's faith on reason than to base one's reason on faith. As the Bible says "Wisdom cries out in the streets, it calls to you in the markets." and "wisdom is more precious than gold." In other words, the Universe is speaking to you all the time, sharing insights into life, giving you new ideas. You need to pay attention to reality in order to see it, and when you see it, you learn.

Based on my observations, I believe that each point of consciousness, each being, is it's own dimension of reality. When you learn something new, you literally expand your consciousness, you expand your dimension to include the new idea, and in so doing you expand All That Is. I believe that's the 'biological' reason we exist, to take thought and form beyond what it has been before. We are Creators, kind of like God, only operating on a smaller scale, and the results of our creative endeavors is nothing less than the expansion of the Universe.

Not completely. I more go by what I see as the laws of nature. I do recognize that we have a soul and spirit. So, I have some faith also.

I could reason that I would do much better if I screwed this person or that person over, or just flat out screwed that person! yet I also must reason what to have faith in, so the question is loaded. Reason that a girl with no sight or hearing already knew of G-d before a woman that could finaly comunicate with her. How does that happen?

You set up a false dichotomy. Faith and Reason guide my life.

Atheism is incoherent madness when taken seriously. That's why I consistently route Atheists in debate without fail.

    Atheism cannot square with reason.

Atheism to me can holed no ground anyways. Think about it, Atheism means the abence of god or higher power, but let one stub their toe.

While it is good to have faith often it is wise to temper it with reason. At least it is good to question anything that simply does not make sense, and in so doing, you will discover the real truth.

Religion ≠ faith/dogma. Some religions are better defined as orthopraxies (correct action, including but not limited to hospitality, reciprocal ethics, equality...).

It's not a reason or religion either / or( (false dilemma).

God gave us a brain to use(reason) and with anything else if you don't use it you will lose it!
