Admit it, you've definitely noticed. The people who eat organic foods, shop at farmers markets and carry their own reusable shopping bags may be healthier and doing their part for the Earth, but they're also a little bit ... obnoxious. And a new study proves it's not just a stereotype.

Study author Kendall Eskine, assistant professor of the department of psychological sciences at Loyola University in New Orleans, conducted a series of experiments and found that organic food eaters were much more judgmental of other people's moral transgressions. They were also less likely to help out a needy stranger than non-organic food eaters.
"There's something about being exposed to organic food that made them feel better about themselves," says Eskine, according to The "Today" show. "And that made them kind of jerks a little bit, I guess." Why? "People may feel like they've done their good deed. That they have permission, or license, to act unethically later on." We think it's great to eat as healthy (and as greenly) as possible. But it's no excuse for turning up your nose at Ding Dong lovers!

This is the same diet logic that drives me insane, you're the one on a diet not me. I do not need to know that what I'm eating has x amount of calories in it. Don't be that person.
I eat organically, shop at farmers markets, grown my own garden, and use reusable shopping bags. I'm not a jerk, and I don't look down on others for choosing non-organic food. I am also quite helpful.
But. Whatever.
Ran out of sensible questions, did we?
I had an incident though, while we're on the subject. A woman was behind me in line at the market when I was asked "what type of bag I preferred" by the bagger.. when I heard this older lady (with her own little, crumpled cloth bag) say "why don't you just bring your own bag?". As I was responding to the store clerk and such.. this lady said it AGAIN. I told her, "I didn't have one with me (and implied I didn't need this (her hassling me) at the moment. She got all huffy and said "WELL, I want to save the PLANET.. I don't want to see the Earth fall apart" etc. ...I just got my groceries and said "Well, good for you.. you'll be here when it does". I was just very tired and she was annoying. I have a few of those bags in my trunk that I have not been consistent with. Frankly, I find them a bit awkward to carry when full, the long straps, things aren't packed the same way.. I don't know.. so call me lousy. I've been recycling a long time though.. do I get points?
(When I mentioned recycling, too, I mean for all of my glass jars, paper, cartons, etc., that I take to the recycle bin).
