As a breed(lovely term isn't it) half Apache half white, I can tell you racism is very much alive, need further proof look at my avatar, half of my face was destroyed by racism.
I believe global warming is very real.
I believe women are not to blame for their sexual assaults, it is a society that still believes "boys will be boys"; a society that forgives people because they play a sport or act.
Does Denial EVER Fix Any Problems?

So once again, 'I haz a ponder.'
Throughout the course of various discussions on this website, I've been observing certain commonalities that seem to be consistent; no matter what the topic of conversation may be, no matter what type of personalities are involved.

One such commonality is 'willful denial.'
Perhaps it's just the nature of some folks to be arbitrarily contrary, or perhaps some just think that if they disbelieve in something hard enough, they can totally negate its existence.

For instance, there are those who claim that 'there's no such thing as racism anywhere in this country anymore'; "just a bunch of whiny 'malcontents' playing the 'race card', in order to get some kind of handout."

Which is a highly interesting POV; to them, I'd suggest asking James Craig Anderson what he thinks about that... if he were actually still alive to give his opinion, that is.

Then there are those believe that climate change is 'just a myth' or a "pontzi scheme", despite the fact that each summer has been progressively hotter over the last few years, each winter has been colder, storms are becoming increasingly more destructive and typical weather patterns have become very erratic.

(Snow in Egypt, anyone? Earthquakes in Washington DC, maybe?)
To them, I'd say:

Then there are those who deny that the apparel of the victims of sexual assault has little bearing upon their predators' decision to target them; as most rapes are committed by people the victims already know; and even 2 year old babies and 89 year old grandmothers have been sexually violated.

This is my advice to people like that:

All that being said, this is what I want to know:
People can totally believe (or disbelieve) whatever they choose, but does 'living in denial' actually bring about any kind of resolution?
Or is it just futile "wishful thinking?"
What say ye?
And as always, the same rules apply; be civil, or begone.
This is a question in the 'Living' section for a reason; political and religious discourse are not welcome here.
If you wish to discuss those topics, there is an entire forum specifically dedicated to such discussions.

IMO, the problem with various discussions that I have witnessed during my short participation periods is that most want to type, but refuse to read.
O_o
That was an example, not the actual question.
The question is: does denial ever bring about resolution?
Because...
Back to News and Politics you go, dont let the door hit you on the way out zealot.
And please don't forget to make the requisite post bitching & whining about how 'I'm such a "coward" for blocking you, and how I 'can't handle the immensity of your intellect', and all that other self-serving bias which myopic, obsessive haters like you constantly regurgitate.
Those are always so entertaining.
Ta-ta.
I once saw a girl scout cookie post get political, truly pathetic
But, I will agree the underlying problem will never be resolved by refusing to confront it...It just gets put on the shelf until one day maybe, hopefully it gets dealt with.
Until there is no "later."
Does the republicans think denying jobs to Americans is a good thing, they must blocking American jobs act 2011, will they block it again, just to bring down the president.
Let keep the political to a min, if you dont mind, hon.
You know that some people will leap on it like a football and try to run with it...
Thanks.
However, small amounts of denial is who the human mind manages to stay even as sane as it is.
This question is in the 'Living' section; not 'News and Politics.'
Thanks.
Thanks.
