Meezoog.com is a good site because it offers protection from fake profiles. Its a cross between dating site and social network. so when you do a single's search, you're actually seeing the friends of your friends (up to x degrees). There is also a "voucher" system, friends setting up friends and other cool stuff. its free right now, but may not be forever...

Plenty of Fish.com is awesome and completely free. Not just the sign up, everything. The guys are fine and everyone is friendly. But be careful with any dating site.
