Queen Victoria popularized the "white" wedding dress. Before that, royalty and aristocracy wore silver, and everyone else wore their nicest duds. "White" representing purity is something made up within the 20th century. The veil represented purity and innocence...not the color of the dress.
Personally, I prefer an ivory or cream.
Anyone who brings "christianity" into it is highly ignorant of their history.

I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to wedding dresses. I like white for wedding dresses and the more “princess,” the better. For me, Kim Kardashian’s wedding dress was a huge success, even if her marriage wasn’t. I’m not such a fan of people stepping too far out of the box like Gwen Stefani’s dress from years back. To see some beautiful weddings and gorgeous wedding dresses (mostly traditional but a few non-traditional) check out these weddings on our site.

No, if you want to wear a different colored dress, go for it! It’s your day, ...

Would you really go to your reception in that dress?
Sorry.
Actually, top 2 would be nice for a beach wedding.
Did I just lose my invite.
Mine would be longer, more knee length. It's a very sweet and sexy dress, I believe.
I'm taking a poll...lol
Regardless, I will wear white. It may not be an old tradition, but it is the only thing I've ever considered since childhood and it's all I want. Plus, my guy says he can't wait to see me in a white dress someday. I love him, I want to give him what he wants as well. It's not just the brides' day.
This is what I want for my dress
