What can we say? We're gaga over groceries! While we shop for our favorite snacks at the store, we often wonder if our grocery store etiquette is the same as others. Do most people sneak in samples at the candy bins while deciding whether or not they're going to buy the goods? What do you do when the cashier gives you too much change? And is it normal to go grocery shopping three times a week? We're finally going to find out.

and some walmarts at 12am
Long story short, it comes down to simple economics. This has everything to do with stores reducing capital (money) "demand" (paying out) for the purposes of increasing a profit margin. They're not making groceries any cheaper which means that self-checkout is directly contributing to higher profits for the CEO and stakeholders than it is helping customers, employees or the economy. Its a fine example of the many ways business makes sense on paper and is a complete flop in reality.
Grace to you, Glory to God!
I can bag my own groceries which is the biggest plus, I understand the reasons behind it, but it drives me nuts to watch cashiers/baggers using twice as many bags as needed. We like to re-use whatever we can, but we really can't store 100 perfectly good plastic bags.
Also I don't wait for price checks. If it does not want to scan, it does not get to come home with me.
