Do You Use Regular Checkout or Self-Checkout?

What can we say? We're gaga over groceries! While we shop for our favorite snacks at the store, we often wonder if our grocery store etiquette is the same as others. Do most people sneak in samples at the candy bins while deciding whether or not they're going to buy the goods? What do you do when the cashier gives you too much change? And is it normal to go grocery shopping three times a week? We're finally going to find out.

if i can. If i have a lot of groceries or are just lazy and don't want to use self-checkout, then i will use the normal checkout

I find it is usually quicker to use the self check out. But if I have coupons I go to the cashier because if they are subject to doubling the self checkout does not always do that. I prefer doing the cashier because I feel the prices should be lower if I do part of the job. But it is quicker to self check.

I got used to the self-checkout but then the store removed their units for some reason so I have to go through the regular checkout again.

I mostly self check because it's easy and convenient. If I've made a lot of purchases or have a lot of coupons I go to a checker.

I do at times use the self checkout when i am in a hurry but i prefer the normal checkout where you are helping a girl keep her job and also you have the personal touch.

I use self check out only if I have a basket full or a tiny trolley, any other time it would infuriate me to try, because there's simply no room.

The self checkouts do not always work right. The last time I used one it told me the bag was missing and set off an alarm. It was already paid.

Not true... for every 6 self-checkout kiosks, they have to hire an electrician. Those jobs pay a lot more than cashiers. And there's all the network infrastructure that needs to be installed and maintained, then upgraded every couple years because everything more than 2 years old is already obsolete.

I've used self-checkout a few times. The last time I did, I had pink grapefruit in my basket--and no way to scan it because it had no code. I'd rather go to a human checker.

"Unexpected item in the bagging area." Enough said.

The self-checkout stations at the grocery store I usually shop at are confusing, especially when checking out multiple items. I would use them more if they were much simpler.

You never have to answer questions at the self checkout. Much faster to do it myself. Most people are not writing checks at the self check out either. Nothing like standing in line waiting for someone to fill out a check or run through the entire case of coupons only to discover that the one they wanted is not there,

I use them both, but these days I use mostly the self checkout because it usually involves less waiting. Stores have lowered their costs by often keeping only one (or no) regular checkout open during the early and late hours when I usually shop, so there's usually a line for the regular checkout (or no regular checkout) when I'm shopping.

I catch things in the machine wrong easier so I don't get over-charged ... I can have the person correct it right there instead of having to get in another line when they over-charge me to get my money back ... I only do it if I don't have all that many items ...

I hate lines...and self-checkout is usually the only option at night ...when there are no lines. did I mention I hate lines? ; )
